Detail scissors designed for precision cutting on thin materials. Customers praised the sharp blades and spring-action design that reduces hand fatigue, calling them "perfect for fine cutting." However, several shoppers reported difficulty cutting thick cardstock (110lb+), ribbon, and yarn, with some experiencing defective pairs that produced ragged edges or wouldn't cut properly.
I do a lot of precision cutting for a variety of paper crafting and am always on the lookout for sharp scissors to do detail cutting. My pair of snips unfortunately doesn’t do this. As you can see from the photos where I’m cutting a tonic paper bag, the edges of the cuts are ragged and not clean. This is paper, and I can’t use it on stamped images on cardstock as it won’t even cut at all on that. Yarn won’t cut either - blades separate. I got this as part of a scissor bundle. Maybe I just got a bum pair since the other review were positive.

Love these for fussy cutting thin paper. Not great for thick cardstock but work great on standard pattern paper or 65lb card

I love Tonic and my checkbook will back me up. But these scissors were a bust. Maybe I was using them incorrectly but I couldn't get them to cut properly.
If you use 110lb or greater cardstock for embellishments get Tim Holtz snips for fussy cutting, also made by Tonic. These don't work for cutting heavier papers, They might be okay for thread and twine, anything thin. I tried to cut paper toweling, half the time it only creased the towel without cutting. I wouldn't use them for ribbon either, they'll bind the ribbon in the snips. It maybe I received a defective pair, but they do work on 20lb paper.

Using these scissors for my embroidery
I didn't know there could be such a difference in the quality of my fussy-cutting! With these little scissors I have been able to make much cleaner and closer cuts than ever before. Who knew?? Evidently - not me! In addition to much more professional looking cut pieces, I will also say that the design of these little precision cutters have a spring-like action that allows much less fatigue and strain on my fingers and wrist while using them, which, in turn, allows me to craft longer since my hand doesn't hurt. These are a "must have" for any proper crafter to have in their arsenal. I was surprised at the difference these made on the quality of my work. And - no one paid me to say this!
I had a stroke 12 years ago and now have limited use of my right hand. I used to love to fussy cut, but had to stop because I couldn't use scissors with the holes in the handles anymore. With the fine points and the Kushgrip handles on these scissors it looks like I will be able to fussy cut again. I will have to practice a little, but I an thrilled that I can use my right hand to fuzzy cut again!
Can't fairly rate because I have a little bit of a time holding "small" scissors. They do cut well when I tried them! But I prefer the larger handles! All n All love Tonic scissors period!
These little scissors are prefect for fine cutting. Easy to handle and designed to minimize fatigue.
I like it, my only wish is that It would have some type of cover as the sheers are very pointy.
I have not use them yet, but they are so little and cute.
I like these fussy cutting scissors- the end of the handle is a hard plastic and only time will tell if they will crack and break off
